Finding Inspiration In Book Covers

Yes, it's said you should never judge a book by its cover. But hell, we all do it anyway.

There's a lot to be said about a great cover. It must evoke the emotional level of the book. It must emcompass more than a title and author (or artist). It must tell you everything that would interest you to continue reading; to open to the first page and see what its about.

Looking at book covers is a great way to find inspiration. Colors, typeface, images, design are all present. When you look at a cover, you should have an idea of exactly who the book is for, what's inside, and why you might like it. At Owen & Fred, we want our products to have a similar feel. We want someone (whoever you are), to look at our bags, our pens, our razors, etc and know exactly why we made them that way. Sometimes it takes a good book cover to remind of us this objective.
